Description: 

Websites are the source of the worlds of information and the better they perform and the more elegant they look, those websites are more successful. Get immersed in the process of building a website from scratch using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and simple design strategies. This course welcomes all, a creative, a complete beginner and someone that feels intimidated by tech. It is a supportive and safe space to engage with web design and learn about an in-demand career field that is ever-changing.

Tools: 

  • Download Zoom
  • Download a Text Editor: Visual Studio Code, Atom, etc. Visual Studio Code is prefered
  • We will be using Repl.it, so please make an account with your Gmail
  • If you need equipment for this program, please complete this short tech form and we will get back to you
  • We will be using Google Classroom for assignments, so please make sure to have a Google account

Get introduced to the world of programming by learning Python and pygame by creating a challenging and fun platform game for your friends to play. You will learn professional tools that software and web developers use today in a fun and interactive way. At the end of the workshop, you will come out with a game you created, a comfortable level of Python and Pygame, the confidence to learn more code, and a competitive edge as an aspiring web or software developer.

Description:  

Join Tech Squad, a team that is dedicated to advancing Digital NEST’s mission of providing access to technology for all and helping you break into tech and possible careers in tech. Members in Tech Squad learn entry-level customer service skills as well as essential project management and technical skills to help meet all of our members and staff needs around technology. As a part of Tech Squad, you will also learn to break apart computers, fix them, and put them back together. You'll be able to impress your family and friends with your newfound tech savviness! Most Importantly, you will find an accepting and supportive community that will help you grow and develop high technical skills, and that will connect you to the world of technology.

Join North County's first Tech Squad  with Digital NEST.  We will train you and you will use your skills to help your community by helping individuals who do not have internet access at home in North County. We will be  setting up hotspots and distributing them.  We will set up a hotline to provide support for those who need tech training and have questions about tech to meet their everyday needs. At the same time, connect with the Digital NEST, learn to troubleshoot your own technical problems at home and make a positive impact on your community.  "Be the change you want to see in the world". 

Additional Information: 

  • Complete community service hours by working in tech squad
  • Get hands-on experience 
  • Tech Squad is like a club membership and not a class. We will be meeting and discussing things frequently.

Girls who code is a club created for women by women that feel underrepresented in tech, workplace, classrooms, and other areas of life. This club provides a safe, supportive and exciting space for female-identified members to take the mystery out of tech, engage in funtivities, get exposed to various career fields while creating an enjoyable community of girls that want to change the way females are represented.

The word data has become a hot topic in recent years, particularly in the tech world. Data can simply refer to information about something, but if we look at how the largest corporations refer to data, we’ll see a digital ocean of resources, wealth and opportunities. In this workshop, we explore the many ways we can use data to make empowered decisions, including how we store, manage and incorporate data into important technologies like databases, applications, and software.
