Get support from peers taking the CIS 15: Introduction to Cloud Programming in Python course at Cabrillo College, work on hands-on activities that will reinforce our understanding of the material and get designated time to do our homework! This course is transferable to any UC or CSU and provides high school credit. Food will be provided.

You will also learn the fundamentals of Python and how to applys to the world of computers.

This is an interactive and hands-on workshop that will take you through the web devleopement process from begining to end. You will learn the design principles that create an eye-popping website and you will learn HTML/CSS to build a website online.This workshop will cover the fundamentas and get you closer to career in web devleopememt, programming, and any other tech fields. After this workshop, you will no longer wonder how to create a website, instead you will have the skills to create your own.   

Additional Information:

  • You will learn Illustrator, HTML, CSS, and VS Code
  • No prior experience neeeded.
  • The only requirement is to come eager to learn.

Develop your skills in project management, film, and graphic design by working on projects for the NEST and the wider community. You will be a crucial part of moving our biggest and most important events and creative projects forward. Interested in graphic design? Help build an app for NEST Flight, our annual conference that serves 300 youth. Interested in film? Document events such as NEST Flight, NEST Birthday and Watsonville Film Festival in preparation to make a trailer for the new NEST film.  Interested in project management? Design events in preparation to manage a production team to complete the trailer for the production. 

Additional Information: The Professional Design Internship welcomes members of all skill levels. All we ask is that you come ready to learn and to work collaboratively. As a team we share responsibilities, pull ideas from multiple perspectives, and complete projects together. 

Students have to be enrolled in this elective during 5th period at Watsonville High School. It covers a fine arts elective. Applications are available by contacting Alexis Flores.

Dev 1 is an introduction to the world of programming, and lays the foundation to careers in web and software development. In this course we will cover the basics of python, which include: variables, for-loops, while loops, functions, classes and more. We will then use those skills to build a game from scratch using the Pygame module, and visualize gameplay statistics using the Pandas module. We will also be learning other software programs such as: Microsoft Visual Studio, Thonny, Atom and GitHub.

CREATE A GAME WITH PYTHON & PYGAME

Get introduced to the world of programming by learning Python and pygame by creating a challenging and fun platform game for your friends to play. You will also learn professional tools that software and web developers use today in a fun and interactive way. At the end of the workshop you will come out with a game you created, comfortable level of Python and Pygame, the confidence to learn more code, and the competitive edge as an aspiring web or software developer. If you want to move on to learn web frameworks using Python or Javascript, you have to take this class.

  • Prior HTML and CSS experience enouraged but not required
